I-Cane Foundation
Huub Grooten, initiator of the I-Cane Foundation:
The I-Cane Foundation wants visually impaired people to get the same opportunities as non-disabled people. It is our social responsibility to provide the visually impaired with mobility improving technologies. Mobility should not only be available to those who are so lucky to have full sensory faculties.
The I-Cane system will be developed further in close cooperation with target group representatives, thus expressly involving the visually impaired. Furthermore, Viziris (umbrella organization of the visually impaired people) is regularly consulted, as well as Sensis and Bartimeus. They regard the I-Cane system as a possibility for the visually impaired to also profit from the technological possibilities, inherent in these times.
Aims of the I-Cane Foundation
Besides initiating innovations and technological developments, I-Cane aims at the production of aids for visually impaired people, especially youngsters, in this frame using new knowledge and new technologies in the broadest sense of the word.
